Building your urban jungle

Building your urban jungle

The concept behind any urban jungle is to reflect the diversity of nature. When building your own personal urban jungle, variety is key. A combination of different sizes of plants is best to provide that diversity in your indoor jungle. For example, you can put a giant plant on the floor and then mix that up with some smaller ones around it, on roof hangers or on plant stands. .

Your mini garden is your personal space. Play around with pots. Add candles, shells, stones or some personal objects close to your heart. Recreate memories of the time that you took a walk in a jungle or a huge garden. Beyond the trees and plants you saw, what sounds could you hear? What scents could you smell? Adding a nature sound playlist to your space or place fragrant specimens such as lavender or jasmine. If you like succulents, adding pot-pourri to the mix would do the deed.

Some beautiful places to showcase your plants are your library, bathroom, window sills and living room.

Perfect for your work space, add some small and simple cacti, succulent plants or a mix of both in your library unit. Known to boost health and make one more disciplined, plants also improve concentration.

It does not matter if your bathroom is huge or small, traditional or modern, a houseplant or two always makes for an impressive addition. Placing a plant on a corner rack, shelf or the bathroom counter is bound to be enough if you don’t want to add bigger ones.

You can also add small plants on window sills around the house. Beautiful especially on kitchen window sills, trolleys, open shelves, atop of fridges, worktops and even dishwashers make for nice places.

Lastly, never be afraid to add a giant, big-leafed plant to your living room. Being one of the largest rooms in any house, living rooms need a statement piece to make them cozy and to add life. You’ll be amazed by how jungle-ish and wholesome it’ll make your space look.

Now that you know the basics of building your urban jungle should not be a task.
